Q: Does the shopper need an app?

No. The face and the ear are read on the shopper's device, and the live video is never uploaded.

Q: Does hair cover the earring?

No. The earring is drawn over whatever is at the ear, hair included. It is at its best when the ear shows, and the try-on asks the shopper to turn their head so it does.

Q: How is this different from the earring try-on from a photo?

The photo try-on composites your product photograph onto a still the shopper takes, and needs no 3D model. This one needs a GLB and gives a live mirror: the ear is found as the head moves and a drop swings. Jewellers with their own CAD usually take this one; the two are separate scene types and a store can run both.

From a 3D model to a live try-on

Upload the earring in 3D

One GLB per design, modelled in metres with the piece's face forward. Mark the piercing with a node named pivot, or we take the top of a drop and the centre of a stud.

Choose how it is worn

Stud, hoop, cuff or drop, and the piercing it hangs from. Only a drop swings. A pair is drawn from the one model.

Publish to the product page

The try-on button appears in your theme. The shopper turns their head a little, the ear is found, and the earring is there.

The ear is found, not tapped

An ear model reads the shopper's own ear on the live frame and places the earring on the piercing. It follows as the head turns, without a tap.

Real size, from the model

The earring is drawn at the millimetres it was modelled at, scaled to the shopper's own ear from the camera's reading of the face. A 12 mm hoop is 12 mm on screen.

Drops swing

A hanging piece lags the head and swings on when it stops, as it would. A stud, a hoop or a cuff turns with the head and stays put.

What 3D earring try-on needs

One 3D model per design, in GLB format and modelled in metres. If you design your own pieces your CAD files are the start; we do not model jewelry ourselves, because a stone's fire and a metal's finish are what a rebuild loses first.
